I had some friends over last night for dinner, and while I was finishing cooking it, they secretly brought in a housewarming present into my basement. A fully functional popcorn cart! Considering my well-known love of popcorn and the fact that I am building a theater room down there, I can’t think of a better idea for a present. Thanks guys!
I just discovered the true power of my new dishwasher. Do you know when you but plates and bowls and sometimes they come with a sticker on the bottom with either the brand or a bar code? Well I have a tough time getting those things off, so I had several bowls with them sort of half removed. I ran my new dishwasher with some of them in there, and when they came out, they were cleaned so thoroughly, the stickers were gone! And these are bowls that had been through my old dishwasher many times. Amazing. Maybe not amazing for you, the reader, but this tells me I should never bother pre-washing anything.
All I have to say to day can be best summarized in Latin:
Caveat venditor
Thanks for the phrase Gil Grissom.
Slowly I am getting my life back in order. As of 2 hours ago, I got my computer back up and running. My living room is getting slowly organized and I at least have some blinds installed in my bedroom so I don’t wake up at the light of dawn every day. Here are some projects I’ve completed in the 4 short days I’ve lived here:
- Installed a new mail box
- Added an electrical outlet and video cables to a wall
- Mounted a new LCD television on to said wall
- Added Ethernet jacks to 3 rooms, and hooked up my high speed Internet to them
- Completely finished organizing my kitchen (really the only room so far that is 100% done)
- Unpacked 30 boxes so far
- Added window blinds to 2 rooms
- Added and changed some door locks
- Hosted a dinner party
Now I’m ready for a vacation. But I must go to work tomorrow. I’m wondering if work will feel like a vacation now.
Well I’m all packed up and living out of boxes for a few days. Thanks to my friends for helping me! What would have taken me over 20 hours alone took less than three with everyone’s help! Some problems I’ve already encountered living out of boxes:
- Don’t walk around in the dark. You are bound to slam into something.
- Don’t pack up all your silverware. I wanted to have some yogurt and found that I had to eat it with a fork..every spoon is in a box somewhere.
I’m taking most of this week off work to move and get organized. Very exciting!
