I had a dream last night that I had a time-share condo in the Bahamas. I find it interesting that my subconscious which can think up any wild possibilities it wants, goes with the very conservative 2-weeks a year time share.
Just two days ago I was remarking to myself that for the first time in a while, I didn’t have any travel planned. I guess that Jinxed it. Now I have two trips in the next month or so, both for work. But they both are short and should be fun.
Not much exciting going on in other news. Just got a new XBox 360 game called Two Worlds. Haven’t had much time to play it yet. We’ll see if I can remedy that this weekend. Speaking of time, I’ve noticed that I am much less active this summer than last. I haven’t used my bike at all, and I’ve only gone Kayaking 3 times. I think it is a multitude of factors including me hurting my back and lots of bad weather on the weekends this summer. In fact, I might just call this a crappy-weather summer overall. (I do realize the irony of saying this while it is 80 degrees and sunny outside, but it’s a work day, so it doesn’t count!)
Well I am off to make dinner!
Those of you that know me know that I do some odd things in my sleep. Well last night, I did something new yet again. I woke up in the middle of the night and I’m not sure exactly what I was thinking but I got out of bed, grabbed my suitcase and put it in the guest room. I guess it was more like I ‘threw’ it in the guest room. Then, I closed the door and leaned something up against it so that I would know if somebody tried to open it and leave the room. Of course nobody was in the room, but that didn’t stop my subconscious from doing it anyway.
So that’s the latest foray into my dream world. Thoughts?

Look at the future of hand air dryers. I saw this for the first time today, and I had to try it out. Instead of using heat to dry your hands, you stick them in this thing and it uses extremely high speed wind aimed downward to blow all the water off your hands. Very cool.

Over the weekend I went white water rafting with some friends. This is the first time I have ever gone rafting, if you don’t include that white-water lazy river from last week.
For any river experts, these were class 4 rapids, with a single class 5 waterfall. It was a great time! Two of us fell out of the boat during the trip (it wasn’t me) and we also rescued three people from the other boats. It turns out the guides have a little bet between each other that if you save someone that fell off someone else’s boat, they owe you a 6-pack of beer. So our guide made out pretty well.
A couple unexpected things:
- The water was freezing cold. Apparently it was glacier ice as little as 8 hours before it hits our boat. So it was only about 33 or 34 degrees. Brrr! We actually had to wear wet suits, another first for me. I decided I don’t like them.
- It was far more organized than I thought. There was a guide in every boat, and they trained us in many commands before beginning, basically turning us into their crew team.
- Going down a 14-foot waterfall isn’t as bad as it sounds. Although seeing your guide take one group down before you, and watching every single person fall out of that boat was kind of scary. In our case, no one fell out on the waterfall. I guess he learns from his mistakes.
I’d put some photos up, but there was no way my camera would survive such a trip. One guy brought one of those waterproof disposable cameras, so maybe I’ll receive some copies of those pictures.
I finished Harry Potter last night. I am pleased to be done, so I don’t have to worry about spoilers. I haven’t gone to a single news website in weeks. I also have the last 4 editions of Newsweek building up on my desk because I was afraid of what it might say.
Also I have been taking a week of vacation with some people I may or may not know. We’ve possibly been having fun, but that information is confidential. We (and by ‘we’ I mean an unspecified number of us) have doing some tourist stuff in here in Seattle. Here’s a short list (I can not disclose whether this list is complete or not):
Whale watching
Seattle Underground
River Rafting
Kayaking
Restaurants
Snoqualmie Waterfall
